The mountain is a culturally renowned site, having been the site of an ancient battlefield during the Spring and Autumn Period. At its foot lies the ancient Taoist Huayang Palace, and within the mountain lies the Lü Zu Temple. Huashan has now been designated a provincial-level geological park and is open to the public. Visitors can ascend the mountain by stairs or by climbing the rocks.
