Introducing Hongjialou Catholic Church

Hongjialou Catholic Church is located at No. 3 Hongjialou, Huayuan Road, Licheng District, in the eastern part of Jinan City, Shandong Province. It is the largest Catholic church in Jinan and North China, and a nationally protected cultural relic site.

Hongjialou Catholic Church mainly consists of a Gothic-style scripture hall and a priest's office building on the south side that is consistent with the Romanesque architecture of the monastery. Although it is a relatively pure Western building, the influence of Chinese tradition can still be seen in some details. Two stone dragon heads are carved on the upper stone walls on both sides of the church's central door. The single-story brick, stone and concrete building with a veranda on the north side, which was built after the Cultural Revolution, obviously draws on traditional Chinese architectural culture.
