Wulian Spring is located in the middle of the South Moat, west of Pipa Spring in Jinan, between Ren Spring and Nan Zhenzhu Spring. It is one of the 14 springs in the Black Tiger Spring group, but it does not belong to the category of the 72 famous springs in Jinan. The name of the spring was written by the famous contemporary calligrapher Ma Zikai.
The Wulian Spring pool rises about half a meter above the river surface. The pool is home to numerous springs, including five large ones. Clusters of bubbles rise to the surface, burst, and overflow, resembling five blooming lotus flowers, hence the name. Because the pool is nestled in the stream, far from the shore, it's also known as the "Spring in the Stream." As the spring flows into the river, ripples surge through the green water, creating a marvelous scene of "stream within stream, water within water," a scene that captures the essence of the interdependence of spring and river.
