Introducing Wufeng Tower (Lijiang)

Wufeng Tower, formerly known as Fayun Pavilion, is located at the northern end of Heilongtan Park in Lijiang City. It was built in the 29th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1601) and was announced as a key cultural relic protection unit in Yunnan Province in 1983.

Fuguo Temple was destroyed by fire in the first month of the Jiazi year of the Tongzhi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1864 AD) and rebuilt in the eighth year of the Guangxu reign (1882 AD). The temple's most famous feature is the "Five Phoenix Tower" (also known as the "Fayun Pavilion"), the main hall of the former "Jietuo Forest." Its exquisite architecture has earned it a high reputation both domestically and internationally. The 20-meter-high, three-story, octagonal pavilion features 24 eaves piercing the sky. Viewed from any angle, it resembles five phoenixes spreading their wings, ready to take flight, hence the name "Five Phoenix Tower."

The temple was destroyed during the Cultural Revolution and has not been restored to this day. Only the Five Phoenix Tower and the gatehouse of the Jietuo Forest remain. In 1979, they were moved to Heilongtan Park in Lijiang City and designated as a key cultural relic protected by Yunnan Province for visitors to admire.
