Yijing Temple is located on Tongming Mountain in Zhangxia Town, Changqing District, Jinan. It is the ancestral temple of Master Yijing of the Tang Dynasty.
At 9:00 a.m. on October 26, 2011, under clear skies and a clear sky, Yijing Temple in Changqing District, Jinan City, Shandong Province, held a grand opening ceremony. The consecration ceremony was presided over by Venerable Jue Zhao, Venerable Yan Can, Vice President of the Hebei Buddhist Association, Venerable Ren Chang, Vice President of the Shandong Buddhist Association, and Venerable Chang Jing, Abbot of Yijing Temple, along with other elders.
In the history of Tang Dynasty Buddhism, only Master Yijing stands as a great figure comparable to Xuanzang, a fellow monk who journeyed west in search of the Dharma. He is known as one of the "Three Great Monks Seeking the Dharma," along with Master Faxian of the Eastern Jin Dynasty and Xuanzang of the Tang Dynasty. He is also considered one of the "Four Great Translators of Buddhist Scripture," along with Kumarajiva of the Later Qin Dynasty, Master Zhendi of the Liang Dynasty, and Xuanzang. His works have been translated into French, English, Japanese, and other languages. Over a thousand years later, in the land where Master Yijing once resided, the compassionate Master Changjing led his disciples in restoring and rebuilding the former Yijing Temple to commemorate him and carry forward his great vow to spread the Dharma and benefit sentient beings.
