Introducing Ksitigarbha Hall

The Ksitigarbha Hall, dedicated to Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, is one of the temple's most important ancillary halls. The only surviving statue of the Di Ting in the world remains on Mount Jiuhua, a national key cultural relic and a treasure of the mountain.

Buddhist scriptures state that Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva was entrusted by Sakyamuni to teach sentient beings in the six realms of reincarnation (heaven, human, asura, hungry ghost, hell, and animal realms) and save them from suffering after Sakyamuni's passing and before the birth of Maitreya Buddha. He was instructed to make a profound vow: to liberate all sentient beings from suffering before attaining Buddhahood. Therefore, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is also known as the "Bodhisattva of Compassionate Vows" and the "Great Vow Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva."
