Introducing Jinan University

The University of Jinan is a comprehensive university jointly established by the People's Government of Shandong Province and the Ministry of Education. It is a key university in Shandong Province, a co-construction university of the National Engineering Practice Education Center, one of the first application-oriented distinctive universities in the Shandong Characteristic Famous University Project, and one of the first national demonstration universities for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform. It has been selected for the Ministry of Education's "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" and "111 Program" and has the authority to confer bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees.

The predecessor of the University of Jinan was the Shandong Institute of Building Materials Industry, founded in 1948. In October 2000, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the two institutions merged to form the University of Jinan. In April 2001, the former Jinan Civil Affairs School of the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the former Shandong Provincial Materials School were merged into the University of Jinan. In December 2007, with the approval of the Shandong Provincial People's Government, the State Council Academic Degrees Committee, and the Ministry of Education, the master's degree-granting disciplines of the Shandong Academy of Medical Sciences were incorporated into the University of Jinan, integrating science and education.
