The Dongba Pantheon, nestled beside Yufeng Temple at the southern foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and nestled against the backdrop of the mountain, is not the Dongba sacred site of Yushuizhai, as most tourists know it. Based on the Naxi ancestors' simple philosophy of man and nature, their captivating imagination of life and the world, the garden is arranged in strict accordance with their concepts of heaven and earth, which align with yin and yang, black and white, and gods and ghosts.
The Dongba Pantheon is surrounded by verdant pines and green grass. Two giant totem poles at the main gate form a central axis with the main peak of the snow-capped mountain. Arranged along this axis are three giant staffs, the Divine Path, two divine gates, and three supreme Dongba deities. Expansive areas on either side of this axis, the Divine Realm on the left and the Ghostly Lair on the right, feature over 300 giant wooden sculptures of natural deities, guardian deities, and livestock deities. The sculptures and architecture within the garden emphasize the reverence for and reverence for nature, and the harmonious development of man and nature—the central themes of the Dongba Pantheon.
