Introducing Muke Village

Muke Village was the site where the garrison of Mu Tianwang, a prominent bandit from Mount Li, and his daughter, Mu Guiying, stationed their troops during the Northern Song Dynasty. The ruins of the village are located at the foot of Mount Li, approximately 800 meters above sea level. The village measures approximately 40 meters east to west and 1,170 meters north to south. While the buildings have long since disappeared, and the rammed earth walls are largely destroyed, the original rammed earth walls and Mu Guiying's drinking well are still visible. Several surrounding places retain their original names.

Nanzhang Village, part of Muke Village, is a strategically located area. To the left of the village, two wings, called Zuoying and Youying, each occupy over an acre. Located only about 1.5 kilometers from the village, they are surrounded by trenches, steep cliffs, and topped with earthen platforms for patrols and sentries. Chenling Village, situated halfway up the slope, is called Zhongying. Qianmiao Village, in front of the village, is called Houying, and is said to be where Mu Guiying lived. Southeast of the village, at the foot of Luotuo Ridge, was once the military training ground, where Mu Guiying led her troops in knife-flying drills. Locals call it the "Paragraph Field," and it covers an area of ​​over 20 acres.

　The village boasts a unique tree: the Jianglong wood, a species found only in Mount Li. A broadleaf tree with lush branches and leaves, it stands 5 to 8 meters tall and is several arms thick. It bears fruit without flowers, has a single root, and its leaves resemble those of a Chinese scholar tree. It cannot survive transplanted elsewhere. Its wood, like ash, is both tough and flexible, making it a top-grade material for long weapon handles in ancient times.
