Wanxian Tower, also known as Wangxian Tower, is located north of Hongmen Palace at the middle foot of Mount Tai in Tai'an City, Shandong Province. Built in 1620 during the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty, it retains the architectural style of the Qing Dynasty. Originally dedicated to the Queen Mother, it later served as the site of the Bixia Yuanjun. Legend has it that this was where the immortals of Mount Tai gathered to discuss matters and preach.
Between Wanxian Tower and the monument lies the Cherry Orchard, also known as Peach Blossom Stream. A Qing Dynasty poet once eulogized it: "Cherries grow at the stream's bottom, moss clung to the rocks. The blossoms at the foot of the mountain have fallen, but the flowers at the summit have yet to bloom." Within the stream, a vast stone platform and cascading cliffs tumble down. The stream gurgles in, then swirls and rushes away, sometimes forming waterfalls, sometimes pools, and sometimes undercurrents, converging into a deep, wide, emerald pool known as Biquan Bay. Today, the stream is devoid of peach and cherry trees, but instead, it fills the valley with poplar and locust trees, flanked by cypress trees, and a cascading waterfall.
It has a temperate continental semi-humid monsoon climate with distinct four seasons, moderate cold and hot seasons, synchronized light and temperature, and simultaneous rain and heat. Spring is dry and windy, summer is hot and rainy, autumn is sunny and refreshing, and winter is cold and snowy.
