The Daming Palace National Heritage Park, located north of Ziqiang East Road and south of Xuanwu Road in Xi'an, is the most magnificent of the three major inner palaces of the world-renowned Tang Dynasty Chang'an City. Construction began in 634 AD , serving as the venue for imperial court meetings. During the reign of Wu Zetian, the only female emperor in Chinese history, Daming Palace was renamed " Penglai Palace " and held court there.

" The palaces of the Ninth Heaven are opened, and people from all nations pay homage to the emperor . " Known as the " Palace of a Thousand Palaces, " the Daming Palace was the most famous palace complex of the heyday of the Tang Dynasty. Seventeen of the 21 Tang emperors conducted state affairs here, making the Daming Palace a world-renowned pinnacle of imperial power from the 7th to 9th centuries AD.
