Fengshan, the highest point in Changdao County, is named after Qi Jiguang, a renowned Ming Dynasty general who built a fire tower in Shandong to prevent Japanese pirates from invading from the sea. A bird exhibition hall is located on Fengshan's secondary peak. In 1988, the state established a migratory bird protection center north of the mountain. In May 1988, Changdao was designated a nature reserve by the State Council.
At the top of the peak is a sea-viewing pavilion supported by a steep cliff. Standing on it and looking into the distance, you can see the Changshan Islands clearly, and the silhouettes of ships and seagulls are all in sight. From here, you can not only see the distant Changdao and windmills through the mist, watch the sunrise and sunset, but if you are lucky, you can also watch the rare mirage sight, which is like a fairyland and beautiful as a picture.
