Introducing Tianbao Park

Tianbao Park is located in the center of the old city of Xiaguan. It is a large tomb where Li Mi, the Marquis of Jiannan, and other soldiers who died in the Tianbao War of the Tang Dynasty are buried. The tomb is circular and faces north, which means that the Tang army soldiers in the tomb can look at their hometown in the Central Plains in the north.

The tomb is 4 meters high and 8 meters in diameter. Its east, west, and north sides are paved with bluestone slabs and framed by stone railings, covering approximately 360 square meters. In front of the tomb stands a 1.8-meter-high and 0.9-meter-wide stone tablet inscribed in official script: "Tomb of the Great Tang Tianbao Soldiers." Deng Zilong, a Ming Dynasty military officer in Yunnan, inscribed a poem: "The Tang general's victory in the southern expedition is known, but who will pity the withered bones lying in the dusk? Only the Cangshan Mountains, fair and just, are covered in snow, year after year, white to mourn the loyal souls!" This poem was then engraved on a stone tablet and placed in front of the tomb. In 1986, Dali City undertook restoration work on the ancient tomb, immersing the entire Tianbao Park in a solemn atmosphere.
