Introducing Changchun Cave

Changchun Cave is located on the western slope of Mount Weibao in Weishan Yi and Hui Autonomous County, Yunnan Province. The complex boasts a unique layout, occupying less than two mu (approximately 1.5 acres) yet boasting nine floors and ten courtyards, forming a regular Taoist Bagua diagram. The complex comprises a front hall, main hall, side rooms, gardens, and a hidden pavilion, demonstrating its rigorous design and ingenious construction.

The entire building faces east and west, is large in scale, and offers beautiful scenery. The front hall originally housed a statue of Lü Dongbin, but now houses the Thunder God, the Earth God, the Spiritual Officer, and the God of Wealth and Civil Affairs. Inside hang four plaques: "Hall of Nine Rise," "Fear and Self-Reflection," "Inspiring the Masses," and "Teacher of All Spirits." A painting on the back wall depicts "The Old God of Longevity Returning from a Banquet."

Two plaques, "Wanxiang Zhonghan" and "Lingyun Wangque," hang above the main hall. Reliefs adorn the doors and windows, and the eight lattice doors are each carved with images of the Eight Immortals, each meticulously and lifelike. Inside, a Bagua diagram, made of planks, hangs on the hall's ceiling. Inside, an octagonal bathing well and a coiled dragon are carved, each with remarkable lifelike form and craftsmanship. A statue of the Jade Emperor is enshrined in the center, flanked by a golden boy and a jade girl. Taoist murals abound throughout the halls of Changchun Cave, along with countless couplets and plaques.
