Introducing Xicheng Pavilion

Xicheng Pavilion is located in Hanbin District, Ankang City, Shaanxi Province. Standing tall on Zhongdu Terrace in Jiangbei District, Xicheng Pavilion is situated at the intersection of Zhongdu Road and Binjiang Avenue in Ankang. The main structure is a nine-story frame-shear wall structure, with two underground floors and seven above-ground floors, totaling 55.99 meters above ground. According to historical records, during the reign of King Huiwen of Qin, Hanzhong Commandery was established, with its seat located at Zhongdu Terrace in Ankang, the current location of Xicheng Pavilion. Historically, it was known as Xicheng Commandery or Xicheng County, dating back approximately 2,300 years.

Ankang's West City carries nearly 2,000 to 3,000 years of history. The West City Pavilion, built on the original site, serves to preserve this history and respect the cultural environment. The new West City Pavilion's design reflects the architectural style of the Qin and Han dynasties, characterized by its rugged grandeur. Its floor plan is square, and except for the base, the third and subsequent floors are recessed, crowned by a cross-shaped "hip-and-gable" roof. The brackets on the top floor and between each floor are minimalist, reaching a height of 55 meters. Visitors standing on the second-floor platform can admire the entire scenery along both sides of the Han River. Climbing to the roof offers a panoramic view of the beautiful city of Ankang.
