Fengyu Town is a small town located in the southwest of Eryuan County, Yunnan Province. It lies at the source of Erhai Lake, behind the Yunnong Peak of Diancang Mountain. Fengyu Town boasts a wealth of cultural relics and historical sites, including the Yuan Dynasty cremation tombs, the Emperor Shishan temple complex, and the Zhenhuang Pagoda built in the first year of the Jin Dynasty's Tianfu reign (936 AD), all designated as county-level key cultural relics. Six ancient pagodas are also located, including the Zhenshui Pagoda, the Liufo Twin Pagodas, the Zhubao Pagoda, and the Zhenfeng Pagoda. Eleven ancient temples, dating from the Tang, Ming, and Qing dynasties, are located here, including the Wenmiao, Wumiao, Helin Temple, Lingjiu Temple, Sanjiao Palace, Jiqing Temple, Benzhu Temple, Yuhuang Pavilion, and Kui Pavilion. The ancient bluestone-paved post road is well-preserved. The Bai ethnic minority residential buildings, with their quadrangular courtyards and three-sided screen walls, possess a simple and unadorned style. The bluestone-paved roads, clear streams, and the ancient residential buildings and pagodas lining the town's alleys and lanes define the town's character, making it a place of considerable architectural and historical value.

There are also many interesting folk activities here, including the Spring Festival, the Farmhouse Music Festival, the Bai Swing Festival, the Qingyuan Cave Festival, the Black Dragon King Festival, the Rice Planting Festival, the Overlord Whip Festival, Bai costumes, and many other ethnic customs with strong regional characteristics. Because of this, the town was named a provincial historical and cultural town in April 2001.
