Boasting 18,000 mu (approximately 1,000 acres) of pristine grassland, Beidaying boasts a 36-square-kilometer tourist area. Such a vast expanse of grassland is truly rare in the mountainous Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. Besides horseback riding and barbecue equipment rentals, access to the grassland, as well as camping, is free. It's the closest free natural grassland to Kunming.
Every summer, thousands of acres of grasslands are covered in lush green grass, with cattle and sheep roaming freely. Beidaying Grassland tourism development, with its emphasis on planning and the introduction of foreign investment, has already yielded initial success. Capitalizing on the grasslands, hot springs, hills, isolated mountains, waterfalls, mountain springs, river valleys, complex terrain, and natural landscapes, the grasslands are being developed with a focus on tourism projects such as a film and television studio, a western town, horse racing clubs, grass skiing, off-road jeep racing, and hot air ballooning. The subtropical plateau monsoon climate; from April to July each year, the grass is lush green and the weather is warm, making it ideal for travel and camping. Avoiding the rainy season from July to September, you can also experience the cool autumn air by visiting in October and November.
