Qifeng Cave is located 8 kilometers northeast of Liziqing Stone Forest. Beneath a torch-shaped rock peak lies an inconspicuous crack, 30 centimeters long and 6 centimeters wide. Every rainy season, after the earth has absorbed its share of rain, a cold, howling wind blows out from this spot, stirring up weeds and dust. While the sound of running water can be heard, not a single drop of water can be seen. After a few minutes of calm, the wind draws in, sucking flowers and plants toward the cave's entrance. This cycle of inhalation and exhalation repeats, creating a breathtaking geological wonder.

When the strange wind from the Qifeng Cave begins to blow, there's a loud roar, followed by a continuous roar from the cave, like the gongs and drums of a battlefield. Then, a powerful gust of wind emanates from the cave entrance, instantly sending dust billowing outside. After a few minutes, the wind gradually weakens, eventually becoming a backflow, sucking weeds and fallen leaves into the cave. After a minute or two, the backflow disappears. A few minutes later, a second outflow of wind begins, but its force and duration are noticeably weaker than the first. After the second gust, everything returns to normal, and the Qifeng Cave completes a single wind cycle.

The geology of Qifeng Cave consists of three parts: an intermittent gusher, a siphon spring, and an underground river. The intermittent gusher is located near a stone forest midway up the hillside. At the foot of the mountain lies a stream over ten meters long. After emerging from the underground river, the stream flows for over ten meters before entering the underground river. After flowing through the several-meter-long underground river, it falls into the siphon spring. The siphon spring is gourd-shaped, formed by the dissolution of unevenly textured limestone. While narrow on the outside, it offers a spacious interior.

The siphon spring is connected to the intermittent gust tunnel through a cavity underneath. Therefore, when the water flows to the gourd mouth, it is blocked. The pressure generated by the increased water flow forces the water to quickly squeeze into the gourd mouth. The falling water squeezes the air in the gourd belly through the underground cavity from the intermittent gust tunnel mouth, causing a gust of wind. After the water flows away, the gourd mouth is blocked again. The air pressure in the gourd belly is not the same as that outside. The physical effect causes the air to backfill from the gust tunnel mouth, forming a suction phenomenon.
