Introducing Recently

The Lizheng Gate was first built in the Yuan Dynasty. It is majestic and magnificent, and is praised by the old Kunming people as "a high building close to the sun". It was originally located on the north-south central axis of the old Kunming city. It is the south gate of Kunming. Like the Golden Horse and Jade Rooster Archway and the East and West Temple Pagodas, it is the symbol and pride of Kunming City. It is also known as Lizheng Gate.

In the 1950s, the Jinri Tower was demolished to facilitate the construction of Dongfeng Road, a road that runs east-west through the heart of Kunming. To promote tourism, the Kunming Municipal Government decided to relocate the tower and rebuild it between the East and West Temples. The resulting pedestrian street, recreating the "Old Kunming," was built. The towering city walls and magnificent towers are complemented by a blue plaque inscribed with the three golden characters "Jinri Tower" in the center.

Since the pedestrian street opened, tens of thousands of people have visited it daily to explore "Old Kunming." One of the most eye-catching features is a group of bronze sculptures depicting centuries-old Kunming streets. These sculptures comprise five groups: "Horse Caravan," "Playing Chess," "Night Watchman," "Mending Bowls," and "Vending Woman." In the late Qing Dynasty, the area in front of the building was a hub for merchants and travelers, earning it the name "Shangshi Street." These sculptures vividly recreate the image of old Kunming, capturing the local customs and folkways of those days within the modern city, creating a sight that visitors can't get enough of.
