The Shilong Gorge Scenic Area is located north of Duanzhuang Village, Xiaying Town, Ji County, 25 kilometers from the county seat, and covers over 2,000 hectares. Here, majestic peaks and canyons, flowing pools, waterfalls, and cascading vines create a picturesque mountain scenery. The origin of Shilong Gorge's name is told through a moving legend. Beneath Guilong Bridge, a stone dragon, complete with head and tail, appears half-hidden in the stream, seemingly attempting to swim upstream. Legend has it that the dragon of Longqiu attempted to soar out of the gully on the mist, leaping through the Dragon Gate, only to transform into a carp. The dragon, overwhelmed with regret, quickly turned back and jumped back onto Longqiu. Though reborn as a dragon, it was exhausted and unable to swim upstream, so it retreated back into the water, transforming into a stone dragon.
The Shilong Gorge Scenic Area can be divided into two sections: the upper section, known as the "Cui Shou Slope," is dominated by unusual rocks, longevity trees, and extensive mixed forests. The slope is covered in exotic flowers and plants, rare ancient trees, and the mountain is lushly green. The lower section is dominated by bridges and waterfalls, including more than a dozen stone arch bridges, cable bridges, plank roads, and stepping stones, while pools and waterfalls are countless.
The Shilongxia Scenic Area has a warm temperate semi-humid monsoon continental climate; the scenery is unique, with green mountains and clear waters, making it suitable for travel in all seasons.
