Located next to the Lao Meihua Shoe Store on Rongji Street and Heping Road, the Zhonghua Quyuan is the performance venue for the Tianjin Quyi Troupe. Each year, they present over 400 performances of drum music, crosstalk, and other works, attracting over 15,000 quyi enthusiasts.
Originally built in the first half of the 20th century as the "Zhonghua Tea Garden," the Chinese Quyuan has hosted performances of quyi, Hebei Bangzi Opera, and Qinqiang Opera. Renowned performers such as Yin Dazi and Han Junqing have performed here. The tea garden was already a renowned theater at the time, and after liberation, it continued to serve as a small performance venue, attracting performers from both local and international performing arts communities. After 1980, the Chinese Quyuan became the home of the Tianjin Quyi Troupe. The troupe's performances, as well as the Northern Quyi School's practice base, are all based at the Chinese Quyuan.
