Introducing Coastal Volcanic Rocks

Zhejiang Linhai National Geopark is located in a coastal area approximately 50 kilometers east of Linhai City in central-eastern Zhejiang Province. Its landscape is characterized by a Late Cretaceous volcanic intrusive and eruptive rock series dating back approximately 95 to 65 million years.

The park's primary strata are the Upper Cretaceous Tiantai Group, part of the Late Mesozoic volcanic eruption belt along the eastern Zhejiang coast. Volcanic activity is primarily characterized by acidic magma eruptions and overflows, accompanied by magma intrusions. Within the geopark, layered volcanic rocks, fault structures, and vertical columnar joints create unique lava terraces and peak clusters.

The park is located in the Taozhu area, mainly including Taojiang Thirteen Islands, Wukeng Peak Forest and Coral Rock Scenic Area. It is a volcanic rhyolite landform with the same origin as Yandang Mountain, and also has many unique landscapes.
