Tianhuajing Theater, one of Tianjin's earliest rotating stages, has been renowned both domestically and internationally since the 1920s. After opening in 1928, the theater primarily performed Peking Opera. Shang Heyu, a veteran of the Peking Opera world and a renowned martial artist, performed in operas such as "Iron Dragon Mountain" and "Siping Mountain." Xi Xiaobo, one of my country's five greatest male roles, performed at the Tianhuajing Theater, as did Gao Jingxuan, the old male role, Zhu Xiaoyi and Gai Chunlai, the martial artists, Zhang Defa, the painted face actor, and Shang Heyu's apprentices, Lou Tingyu and Li Yuanchun.
Before liberation, the Tianhuajing Theater only performed Peking Opera. After liberation, Peking Opera, Ping Opera, Hebei Bangzi Opera, Yue Opera, Quyi Opera, and acrobatics were all performed here. Renowned Tianjin Peking Opera actors such as Wang Zezhao and Xiao Shengchun, Ping Opera actor Li Wenfang, famous Hebei Bangzi Opera actors such as Yin Dazi, Han Junqing, Jin Baohuan, and Wang Yuqing, Yue Opera actors such as Qiu Aihua and Xiao Shaoqing, and famous Quyi actors such as Xiao Caiwu, Ma Sanli, Chang Baoting, and Bai Quanfu were all popular with the audience.
