The Qiao Tiehan Former Residence, a descendant of the Qiao family, a commercial and financial capitalist family from Qi County, Shanxi Province, during the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China, was built in the 1920s. Located on Fenglingshi Road (now No. 70 Chifeng Road, Heping District), in Tianjin's French Concession, it is often referred to as Tianjin's Qiao Family Compound or Qiao Family Western-style Building. The residence, well-preserved in its original form, is a designated cultural relic protection unit and a key protected historical building in Tianjin's Heping District.
Qiao Tiehan's former residence, a two-story brick and wood structure, covers an area of 1,214 square meters. Its exterior is clad in cement, and the main facade features eight open porches supported by double columns. A central stone entrance is located within the building, while a second-floor balcony features a cement vase-shaped openwork railing and arched doors and windows. The gently sloping roof, with five windows on each side and semicircular floral patterns adorning the eaves, evokes a Western European classical architectural style.
