As visitors enter the canyon, the large characters "No. 1 Gorge in the World" are particularly eye-catching. These inscriptions were written by Hu Sheng, former Vice Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, after visiting Baili Gorge in May 1994. For years, Baili Gorge has showcased its complex topography, precipitous rocks, and pristine natural landscape, truly living up to its reputation as "No. 1 Gorge in the World."
