Located in Burqin County, Altay Prefecture, Xinjiang, the Kanas Thousand Lakes are a magnificent and beautiful creation of thousands of lakes, large and small, formed by the action of the Kanas Glacier. Formed by depressions such as ancient cirques, ice caves, and granular snow basins, the lakes dot the mountaintops, with Black Lake being the most famous. There is no road from the Hemu Kanas Scenic Area to Little Black Lake, so the only way to reach it is by foot or on horseback. Visitors can experience horseback riding or hike together to enjoy the unique scenery along the way.
