Its name derives from its bell-like, cone-like shape. A landmark attraction in the Keketuohai and Dadonggou Scenic Areas, Shenzhong Mountain boasts a magnificent scale and imposing presence, with lifelike rock formations, a classic example of granite landform. Its surface is both rounded and smooth, yet steep, with birch, pine, and Siberian spruce trees growing in the crevices of the rock face.

Shenzhongshan is located in the Altai region of Xinjiang. The best way to get there is by taxi or private vehicle from the nearby city of Altay. Public transportation options are limited, so hiring a taxi or driving is recommended.
Shenzhongshan is open to visitors year-round. The best time to visit is during the spring and autumn months when the weather is mild and the natural scenery is most vibrant. Avoid visiting in the winter as snow and icy conditions may make access difficult.
The entrance fee for Shenzhongshan is approximately ¥30-¥50. Tickets can be purchased on-site at the entrance. There is no official online booking system, but it's advisable to check with local hotels for any ticketing arrangements.

The best viewpoints are at the summit of Shenzhongshan, where visitors can capture panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and mountains. Sunrise and sunset offer the most beautiful lighting for photography.
Start with a visit to the base of the mountain where the temples are located, then begin your hike to the summit. Along the way, take time to appreciate the natural surroundings and make stops at viewpoints. Conclude your visit by exploring the historical sites at the top.
Night visits and light shows are not available. The attraction is best visited during daylight hours. Special tours can be arranged during the day, but night activities are not a part of the regular offering.
Shenzhongshan is generally not very crowded, but weekends and public holidays can attract more visitors. The least crowded times are during weekdays in the off-peak seasons, especially in early mornings or late afternoons.
Basic facilities such as toilets and rest areas are available near the entrance and along the trail. However, there are no extensive food or shopping facilities at the site, so it’s advisable to bring water and snacks with you.

There are a few hotels and guesthouses in Altay City, including Altay International Hotel and local inns. These are within a short driving distance from Shenzhongshan and offer comfortable accommodations for tourists.
Souvenir shops can be found in Altay City, where visitors can purchase locally made crafts, textiles, and traditional items like woolen garments and jewelry. Mineral-based souvenirs are also popular in the region.
Taxis and private vehicles are the best options to continue your journey after visiting Shenzhongshan. Renting a car is ideal for exploring more of the Altay region and other natural landmarks.
