Taixing Mountain is located in Yangzhuang Township, Chang'an District, Xi'an City (in the Kuyu Valley of the Qinling Mountains). Its highest point, the Iron Temple, stands at 2,340 meters above sea level, while Mount Taiding rises 2,320.5 meters. It is 45 kilometers from downtown Xi'an. The mountain scenery is comprised of Xianglu Peak, East and West Latai Mountains, Tianmen Peak, Wuliangyao Peak, Wangzhu Peak, and waterfalls. The temple complex comprises eight palaces, a shrine, seven halls, nine caves, two towers, two nunneries, and the Baofeng and Ci'en Temples. It has been a Taoist sanctuary since the Sui and Tang dynasties, leaving behind numerous cultural relics and myths. At the end of the Sui and beginning of the Tang dynasties, a golden hall, five stone statues, and the remains of an iron lion head were built. Six Ming cast iron statues, an iron bell, two small iron temples, and four Qing dynasty steles were also found.
