Huagai Mountain is located in Huashan Village, Dalan Town, Yuyao City, next to the Huxi Line Highway. It has an altitude of 877 meters, so it is easy for snow to accumulate on snowy days. It is one of the snow-viewing spots in Ningbo and attracts countless tourists every winter.
Suitable for all seasons
To the south of Huagaishan Village lies Huagai Mountain, which, despite winter snow, is covered in lush bamboo. Within the mountain lies an ancient trail, known as the Huagaishan Ancient Trail. It stretches approximately 3 kilometers, centered at Huagaishan Village, connecting Qiuao Village and Kongao Village at either end.
It takes about 30 minutes to climb from the foot of the mountain to the top, and you will reach the top of Huagai Mountain. Looking down from the top of the mountain, you can see small villages scattered around the mountain, scattered among the deep and shallow valleys.

Huagai Mountain is a popular natural destination in Ningbo, Zhejiang, known for its lush forests, picturesque landscapes, and historical temples. It is significant as both a natural wonder and a site of spiritual importance, with a history rooted in local folklore and religious practices.
Huagai Mountain is located in the outskirts of Ningbo, Zhejiang. You can take a taxi or drive to the mountain. There are also buses from the city center that take you to the base of the mountain. The area is not easily accessible by metro.
Huagai Mountain is open year-round, but the best time to visit is during the spring and autumn months when the weather is pleasant, and the foliage is at its best. Avoid peak summer to escape the heat and crowds.
The entrance fee is generally low, and tickets can be purchased at the mountain entrance. Online ticket booking is also available for some guided tours and special events.
For general visits, advance booking is not required. However, for special tours or events, it is advisable to book tickets at least a few days in advance.
To fully explore Huagai Mountain, including hiking and visiting the temples, plan for a half-day trip, approximately 4 to 5 hours. If you want to relax and take your time, a full day is recommended.
Guided tours are available in Mandarin. English-speaking guides might be available upon request, but it’s advisable to check in advance.
Start your visit at the base of the mountain, taking the main trail to the first temple. From there, continue up the mountain to reach the summit for the best views. Afterward, descend to explore the other smaller temples and rest areas along the way.
Night visits are not typical, as the mountain is primarily a daytime destination. However, there may be occasional special events or festivals that feature light shows or nighttime activities during peak tourist seasons.
The mountain is most crowded during weekends and holidays. The best times to visit for a quieter experience are weekdays, especially in the early morning or late afternoon.
Basic facilities such as toilets and rest areas are available along the trails. There are also food stalls offering local snacks. Bring your own water for hiking as it might not be available in all areas.
The trails can be challenging, especially for elderly visitors or those with mobility issues. Some areas are accessible, but there are steep sections. Children may enjoy the walk, but supervision is needed due to the uneven terrain.
Mobile payments (Alipay, WeChat Pay) are widely accepted, and credit cards are accepted in most areas. However, it's advisable to carry some cash for smaller vendors and stalls.
Vegetarian options are available in some local restaurants, but vegan and halal options are more limited. It's advisable to check specific restaurants in advance if you have dietary restrictions.
You can find souvenirs such as locally made handicrafts, tea, and mountain herbs from small shops near the base of the mountain.
