Xinzhou City, under the jurisdiction of Shanxi Province, was called "Xiurong" in ancient times, "Xin" for short, and "Xin" for short. Located in the north-central part of Shanxi Province, it has many famous tourist attractions such as Wutai Mountain, the sacred Buddhist site, and Yanmen Pass, the "first pass of the Nine Fortresses". It is also known as the "hometown of wrestling".
Xinzhou's Buddhist culture occupies an important position in the world, and its ancient frontier warfare culture has distinct regional characteristics. Yanmen Pass, Ningwu Pass, and Piantou Pass are existing physical evidence. Historically, these were places where the Han nationality and the northern nomadic peoples engaged in long-term wars, exchanges, and integrations.
Xinzhou City has a temperate continental monsoon climate, with no severe cold in winter and no extreme heat in summer. It has four distinct seasons, and spring and autumn are the best times to visit.
Mount Wutai
One of my country's four famous Buddhist mountains, Mount Wutai is known for its cool climate, earning it the ancient name Qingliang Mountain and the reputation of "the holy land of coolness." From the Northern Wei Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, emperors and empresses of every dynasty sent envoys to pay homage to Mount Wutai without interruption.
Yanmen Pass
Since its construction, Yanmen Pass has become even more formidable, possessing the unparalleled power of "one man guarding the pass, ten thousand men unable to break through." Yanmen Pass consists of three parts: the fortress, the urn, and the siege wall. The fortress wall is 10 meters high and has a circumference of approximately 1 kilometer. The wall has a stone base, rammed earth filling, and a brick exterior, with battlements built into the walls. Both "Lüshi Chunqiu" and "Huainanzi" refer to it as one of the nine fortresses under heaven, and this sentence is annotated here.
