Confucius River
The renowned Confucius River is a key attraction in the Gaolan Scenic Area. Its clear, cool waters flow gently through the canyon, creating a melodious gurgling sound. Its riverbed, paved with colorful pebbles, is particularly picturesque. The area is overgrown with trees and thorns, and due to the prevalence of insects and snakes, it is rarely visited. Legend has it that one day, Confucius passed by this place after lecturing in Danyang, Chu State.
Taigong fishing
Located on the mountainside of the Kongzi River, there is a huge rock protruding upright on the mountainside. From a distance, it looks like an old man standing with his head bowed, fishing with a fishing rod. Above the old man, a huge rock looks like a fishing rod. Local villagers call it "Taigong Fishing". The rock got its name because from a distance, its demeanor resembles Jiang Taigong.
The Divine Donkey Crosses the Stream
The bizarrely shaped rock peak by the river resembles a donkey laden with books crossing a deep ravine. Legend has it that Confucius, while traveling through the various states, arrived in Chu. There, he drank and sang with Gao Lan, the Great Immortal Wofo, and they became close friends, playing the zither and flute. One day, as Confucius was leaving Chu for his homeland, the Great Immortal Wofo gave him a donkey to carry his books.
