
Liangzi Lake, part of the prefecture-level city of Ezhou and a national 4A-level scenic spot, is home to over 70 species of freshwater fish, including Wuchang fish, mullet, whitebait, silver needlefish, boat nail fish, mandarin fish, bighead carp, catfish, eel, and hairy crab, all renowned Lianghu specialties. Wuchang fish is the most famous.
Wuchang fish swim from Liangzi Lake through Changgang to Fankou on the Yangtze River to mate, then return to Liangzi Lake to spawn. The Wuchang fish from Fankou are considered authentic Wuchang fish. Liangzi Lake is the largest freshwater lake in Hubei Province by both water storage volume and area. It serves as the central lake of the Wuhan urban area and is one of the best-preserved wetland reserves on the Asian Wetland Reserve List. It is designated as a strategic backup water source for eastern Hubei.

Qingshan Island
Qingshan Island, covering approximately one square kilometer, includes 130 mu of planned construction land and currently has 123 residents and 26 farming households. Surrounded by water, it lies in the heart of Liangzi Lake, resembling a mermaid resting in the center. Sparsely populated, the island boasts eight rolling hills, maintaining a remarkably intact ecological environment, resembling a paradise. Qingshan Island faces Liangzi Island across the water.
