Introducing Ngong Ping
Ngong Ping, located in the southwest of Lantau Island in the New Territories of Hong Kong, on the hillside of Phoenix Mountain, is widely known as the location of the Tian Tan Buddha, one of Hong Kong's tourist attractions.
Ngong Ping was originally a quiet place with only the Po Lin Monastery. However, after the Tian Tan Buddha, the world's largest bronze Buddha, was completed in 1993 , it has attracted many tourists from Hong Kong and other places.
The Ngong Ping Cable Car connects the city center of Tung Chung on Lantau Island with Ngong Ping. Spanning 5.7 kilometers, it utilizes a safe and reliable dual-cable cable car system, the first of its kind in Hong Kong. The journey begins at Tung Chung Cable Car Station, crosses Tung Chung Bay, and reaches the turning point on Airport Island, where it makes a 60- degree turn in mid-air and reaches North Lantau.
