Introducing Danxia Mountain
Danxia Mountain, named after the Danxia strata and landform, is Guangdong Province's largest and most beautiful scenic area and natural heritage site, primarily focused on Danxia landforms. Along with Dinghu Mountain, Luofu Mountain, and Xiqiao Mountain, it is known as one of Guangdong's Four Famous Mountains. The Danxia Mountain Scenic Area is primarily divided into the Danxia Scenic Area, Shaoshi Scenic Area, Bazhai Scenic Area, Xianrenji Scenic Area, and the Jinjiang Gallery Scenic Area.
Danxia Mountain boasts Buddhist temples and over 800 grottoes and temple ruins. Throughout history, scholars and poets have left behind countless legends, poems, and cliff carvings, representing a region of immense historical and cultural value. At the foot of Danxia Mountain lies the clear Jin River, which winds through the peaks and forests. Visitors can enjoy a boat trip along the riverbanks and admire the cliff carvings.
There are also many remains of hanging coffins scattered in the hidden caves in the steep cliffs on both sides. The largest of these is the large tomb complex in Shaoshishan Coffin Village, about 10 kilometers west of Makeng Village.

The best time to visit is spring and autumn. In spring, azaleas bloom across Danxia Mountain, creating a breathtaking spectacle. In autumn, the sunrise over Danxia is even more breathtaking, complementing the vibrant red cliffs.
Danxia Mountain Scenic Area has a subtropical humid monsoon climate with hot summers and cool winters. There is occasional snow in winter (only in the high places of Jinjiling in Pingshi). The average annual temperature is around 20 degrees. The warm subtropical climate and abundant rainfall make Shaoguan evergreen all year round.
