Zhuji Ancient Lane is located between Meiling Mountain and Nanxiong County. It was a post station in the Tang Dynasty and had become Shajiao Town in the Northern Song Dynasty. It is an important settlement for people from the Central Plains who migrated to Lingnan. It is also the birthplace of residents of the Pearl River Delta and the ancestral home of countless overseas Chinese.
Zhuji Ancient Alley largely retains the original appearance of an ancient post road. It is divided into the North Gate, Middle Street, and South Gate, and boasts three city-gate-style gatehouses, totaling over one kilometer in length. All date back to the late Ming Dynasty. Northwest of the Zhuji Ancient Alley archway stands a seven-story octagonal solid stone pagoda from the Yuan Dynasty. This is the only extant Yuan Dynasty stone pagoda in Guangdong Province with a verifiable date and is now a protected cultural relic of Guangdong Province.
