Xianju County, located in southeastern Zhejiang Province and west of Taizhou City, has long been a city steeped in history and culture, renowned for its outstanding people and beautiful scenery. The sayings "one man's success brings prosperity to his family," "the world changes dramatically," and "everyone praises him" all took place here.
Shenxianju, nestled secluded deep in the mountains, is known as "the place where the gods reside" and the last Shangri-La of Jiangnan. Nature is everywhere here. Around the Qingming Festival, golden rapeseed blossoms blanket the village, while the surrounding mountains and terraced fields offer a breathtaking natural beauty, making it a favorite spot for hiking enthusiasts. Strolling through the ancient town, time seems to stand still. At night, gaze up at the crystal-clear starry sky, a true sanctuary, akin to a paradise.
Best in spring, summer and autumn
Visiting Xianju County is a top priority for flower viewing. Peach blossoms bloom from mid-March to late April, cauliflowers turn golden from late March to early June, lavender blankets the Fairy Valley from May to June and September to October (especially June), and sunflowers bloom in patches in Shibi Village, each town in Xianju County, from June to July.
Shenxianju
Shenxianju is renowned for its natural beauty, with bamboo forests and waterfalls dotting the mountains, preserving its pristine wildness. It comprises three major scenic clusters: Xiyan Temple, Weiqiang Mountain, and Juxian Valley. The essence of the scenic area is concentrated around the summit, with three inaccessible scenic spots opening up in three directions. Every year between May and June and September and October (peak bloom in June), the lavender fields at the north entrance of the Shenxianju scenic area gradually bloom, creating a truly stunning spectacle. Zhang Jizhong's version of the TV series "The Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils," the film "The Forbidden Kingdom," and the new version of "The Legend of the White-Haired Witch" were all filmed at Shenxianju.
Gongyu Scenic Area
Gongmeng is a little-known place. Its secluded location has earned it the nickname "Shangri-La of East China." Gongmeng Village, divided into Shangping and Xiaping, is nestled at an altitude of 600 meters, surrounded by peaks exceeding 1,000 meters. Here, visitors can admire stone pillars formed by volcanic lava formations; terraced fields lush in summer and golden in autumn; and a dazzling starry sky free of light pollution. Most visitors to Gongmeng come for hiking and camping. The village offers simple accommodations and meals in humble farmhouses. Enjoy a bowl of free-range chicken and a bowl of homemade bayberry wine.
Xianju Jingxingyan Scenic Area
Jingxing Rock is actually not very big. At the top of the mountain is a viewing platform where you can overlook the rolling mountains and the scenery below. Hostels, restaurants, theaters, and leisure places are also concentrated here. If you are traveling with children, you can try taking the nearly 900-meter downhill slide when going down the mountain. It is very unique.
