The Xiaodongtian and Dadongtian Scenic Area (formerly the Haishan Wonders Scenic Area, formerly known as the Aoshan Xiaodongtian and Dadongtian) is located in the southwestern corner of Nanshan, 40 kilometers west of Sanya City, with a total area of 22.5 square kilometers. The scenic area has a history of more than 800 years and is a famous Taoist cultural scenic area.
The Xiaodongtian and Dadongtian Scenic Area, known for its stunning sea, mountain, and rock scenery, is known as Qiongya's premier scenic spot. Cliffside inscriptions of poetry and prose from past dynasties, such as "Xiaodongtian," "Diaotai," "Sea and Mountain Wonders," "Xianrenzuo," and "Shijian Peak," still remain within the area. Mountains, sea, forests, and springs are essential elements for a scenic tourist destination. Here, Yazhou Bay curves for hundreds of miles, its turquoise waters overflowing; Aoshan Mountain is shrouded in deep clouds and verdant forests, with its unique rock formations and secluded caves; the coastline is dotted with rock formations of various sizes, each imitating the divine craftsmanship of nature. The interplay of mountains and sea resembles a long, ancient and majestic scroll painting.
