Baima Snow Mountain is located in Deqin County, Yunnan Province. The majestic Yunling Mountains belong to the Hengduan Mountains. The peaks are continuous and covered with snow. From a distance, the main peak covered with snow all year round looks like a galloping white horse, hence the name "Baima Snow Mountain".
It was established in 1983 with the approval of the Yunnan Provincial People's Government and promoted to national level in 1988. Its main protected objects are alpine coniferous forests, natural landscapes of mountain vegetation vertical zones and Yunnan golden monkeys.
July to October is the best time to visit Baima Snow Mountain. Summer and autumn are the best seasons for visiting Baima Snow Mountain, with gurgling streams and the sound of cuckoos. The snow along the highway melts away, and streams gurgle everywhere, cuckoos sing, and birds chirp in the forest, while monkeys frolic, creating a truly enchanting sight. From December to June, the mountains are generally closed to vehicles.
