Ganquan is a place rich in traditional characteristics. Its people are adept at dancing the Yangge dance and paddling on land boats, their movements agile and graceful, resembling those of floating on water. The area also boasts two well-preserved ancient ruins: the Sigou Village Ruins and the Shijiawan Ruins.
Ganquan County has a plateau continental monsoon semi-humid climate with distinct cold and warm seasons and dry and wet seasons. Every April 18th of the lunar calendar, there is a traditional temple fair here, which is very lively and bustling with people.
