Cundong Lake is located at the top of Kangwu Mountain, 3,404 meters above sea level, northwest of Muli Tibetan Autonomous County, 35 kilometers from the county seat. Covering over 5,000 mu (approximately 1,000 hectares), it is a plateau lake. Its blend of mountains, sea, flowers, and trees has earned it the reputation of a "Pearl of the Plateau."
The lake runs from north to south and is surrounded by mountains on all sides. The mountains are covered with dense forests, green grass and towering ancient trees. The mountains surround the water and the water reflects the mountains, forming a unique landscape of mountains in water and water in mountains.
Spring, summer, autumn, and winter offer unique scenery. In midsummer, azaleas bloom in full bloom, and flocks of wild ducks frolic on the lake. In autumn, the landscape is a sea of golden yellow, interspersed with clusters of crimson leaves, creating a striking contrast. In late winter, the white snow reflects a blue gem, birds chirp in the woods, and pheasants forage on the snow.
