Shaxi is located in the southeast of Jianchuan, Dali, Yunnan, China. It was once an important post station on the Ancient Tea-Horse Road. With the decline of the Ancient Tea-Horse Road, this place was gradually forgotten, and the style of the tea-horse town at that time was better preserved.
The ancient town still boasts attractions such as the Ancient Opera Stage, Yujin Bridge, and Xingjiao Temple, the latter of which is the largest, most typical, and most representative Tantric Buddhist "Azhali" temple in my country. You can also enjoy Shaxi Dongjing ancient music, witness the traditional Bai ethnic group's Bawang whip, and sample Shaxi's local specialties, including ginseng seeds, matsutake mushrooms, and goat milk cakes.

There is no entrance fee for the town itself. However, some attractions, like the Bai cultural museum or certain temples, may have a small entrance fee (usually around 20 CNY). Tickets can be bought on-site at the respective locations.
No advance booking is typically needed for Shaxi Ancient Town or its attractions. However, if you're visiting during the peak tourist seasons (spring and autumn), it’s advisable to book tickets for specific attractions or guided tours in advance.
