The "Two Lakes and One Monument" refers to the three scenic areas of Eling Lake, Zhaling Lake, and Niutou Monument at the source of the Yellow River. Maduo County, located at the northern foot of the Bayankala Mountains and west of the Amnye Machen Mountains, is the source of the Yellow River. Due to its relatively favorable climate, the area boasts numerous rivers, vast grasslands, and a rich variety of rare and valuable wildlife and plants.
More than 4,000 lakes of varying sizes have made Maduo, known as the "County of a Thousand Lakes", an excellent pasture with abundant water and grass. The famous Eling Lake and Zhaling Lake have been included in the list of internationally important wetlands.
The Ox Head Stele is built on the top of Cuori Gaze Mountain in Maduo County, at an altitude of 4,610 meters. The body of the stele is 3 meters high and the base is 2 meters high. Both are inlaid with copper plate molds. The stele has a unique style and vigorous font, symbolizing the long history of the Chinese nation and its hardworking and simple character.
