Introducing Haoyue Garden

Haoyue Garden is located on the Fudingyan beach in the east of Gulangyu Island. It is a sculpture garden built to commemorate Zheng Chenggong's historical achievements in expelling the Dutch and recovering Taiwan. The Ming Dynasty-style buildings here complement the sea and mountain scenery.

A massive granite statue of Zheng Chenggong stands atop Fuding Rock, standing proudly alongside the Sword Rock and Yindou Rock in the sea. The statue is composed of 23 layers of 625 blocks of "Quanzhou White" granite. Fuding Rock, at an elevation of 29.5 meters, extends 30 meters into the sea. Its rugged terrain and imposing presence create a majestic and daunting atmosphere, complementing the Sword Rock and Yindou Rock in the sea.

The central square of the garden features the large-scale sculpture "Rattan Shields Driving Away the Enemies," hailed as Xiamen's most beautiful. It vividly recreates the spectacular scene of Zheng Chenggong commanding his vast army to drive out the Dutch and reclaim Taiwan. The South and North Stele Galleries, each themed around Zheng Chenggong, recreate his heroic spirit in various forms and from various angles. The name of the gallery is taken from the character "皓月" (bright moon) in Zheng Chenggong's poem, "Thinking of you, I cannot sleep, the bright moon shines through the white curtains," expressing his remembrance of the hero and his longing for his fellow Taiwanese.
