Introducing Humble Administrator's Garden

The Humble Administrator's Garden, located in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, was built in the early years of the Ming Dynasty (early 16th century) and is a representative work of Jiangnan classical gardens. Along with the Summer Palace in Beijing, the Mountain Resort in Chengde, and the Lingering Garden in Suzhou, the Humble Administrator's Garden is known as one of China's four famous gardens. As of 2014, it is still the largest classical garden in Suzhou, covering an area of 78 mu.

The garden, centered around water, is surrounded by mountains and water, boasting exquisite pavilions and lush flowers and trees, embodying the rich character of a Jiangnan water town. The garden is divided into three sections: East, Central, and West. The East Garden is spacious and airy, the Central Garden is the centerpiece, and the West Garden boasts exquisite architecture, each with its own distinct character. The southern portion of the garden is a residential area, embodying the typical multi-story residential layout of traditional Jiangnan residences. Also located in the southern portion of the garden is the Suzhou Garden Museum, the only dedicated garden museum in China.

Every spring, the Humble Administrator's Garden grandly hosts the annual "Azalea Festival"; in summer, it holds the "Lotus Festival", a traditional feature of Suzhou gardens; and in autumn, the Humble Administrator's Garden holds an off-season chrysanthemum exhibition with chrysanthemum as the theme.
