The world's first bridge of love is the Anlan Bridge, located in the Dujiangyan Scenic Area in Chengdu, Sichuan, across the Minjiang River on the western part of the Chengdu Plain. With wooden planks and bamboo cables as railings, the bridge is safe for pedestrians, hence the name "Anlan Bridge." Later, it was renamed "Anlan Bridge," meaning to cross the river safely without fear of the waves. In gratitude for the merits of He Xiande and his wife, it is also called the "Couple Bridge."
