Songpan Ancient City consists of two inner and outer walls, connected by a gate. The city walls, constructed entirely of blue brick, are sturdy and solid, reaching a thickness of 12 meters, the thickest in China. The turbulent Minjiang River flows from east to west through the ancient city, passing through the city's central street before turning south and exiting through the south gate. Two ancient mosques still remain within the city. Songzhou City has been home to a long history of intermingling Tibetan, Qiang, Hui, and Han ethnic groups, influencing and integrating each other, fostering a rich local culture.
