Gaomiao Ancient Town, located in Hongya County, Meishan City, Sichuan Province, is renowned in Sichuan Province for its production of Gaomiao liquor. Located 56 kilometers from the county seat, the town is bordered by Mount Emei to the east, Wawu Mountain to the south, Yuping Mountain to the west, and overlooks the western Sichuan plain to the north. Founded in the late Ming Dynasty, it was named Gaomiao Ancient Town because of the ancient land temple at the highest point of the old town.
