Zhongyan, located on the golden tourist line 11 kilometers southeast of Qingshen City, is the place where the great Northern Song Dynasty writer Su Dongpo first fell in love. It was praised by Fan Chengda as "the best place for forests and springs in Xichuan" and praised by Lu You as "the best mountain in southern Sichuan."
The main scenic area consists of the upper, middle and lower temples (rocks), with green peaks, deep ravines, flowing springs and ringing rocks, and the scenery is gorgeous and pleasant, suitable for year-round tourism. It is a shining pearl on the Chengdu-Meishan (Qingshen)-Leshan-Emeishan water and land tourism route.
Since the Tang Dynasty, famous artists of all ages such as Li Bai, Su Shi, Huang Tingjian, Lu You, and Fan Chengda, as well as numerous high-ranking officials, have admired the temple, moored their boats by the river, climbed the mountain to reminisce about the past, admired the scenery and expressed their feelings, and recited poems and inscribed them on the stones. To this day, there are still 119 inscriptions on the rocks, 48 niches with more than 2,400 statues carved in the rocks, and the poems and calligraphy on the rock walls are dazzling.
