Introducing Gongbu Shrine

The Gongbu Shrine, located within the Chengdu Du Fu Thatched Cottage Museum, is the final and most important of the five main buildings. Because Du Fu was recommended by Yan Wu for the position of Deputy Director of the Ministry of Works during his time in Chengdu, later generations respectfully referred to him as Du Gongbu and the shrine in his memory as the Gongbu Shrine.

In front of the Gongbu Temple stands a couplet written by He Shaoji of the Qing Dynasty: "The spring breeze of Jinshui has taken possession of you, and I will return to the Thatched Cottage on the day of the people's reunion." Inside the Gongbu Temple, a shrine to Du Fu stands in the center, flanked by the Southern Song poet Lu You and the Northern Song poet Huang Tingjian.
