Bao'en Temple, located in the central part of Pingwu County, Mianyang City, Sichuan Province, is the best-preserved palace-style Buddhist temple complex of the Ming Dynasty in China. It is a typical representative of Pingwu's ancient history, culture, religion and art relics.

The layout and structure of Bao'en Temple are very similar to those of the Forbidden City in Beijing. According to legend, it was built by Wang Xi, a hereditary local official guarding Longzhou during the reign of Emperor Yingzong of the Ming Dynasty. He hired craftsmen who had built the "Forbidden City" in Beijing with a large sum of money, and imitated its shape and built it on a large scale. Therefore, it is also called the "Royal Palace in the Deep Mountains".
